Employees’ Milestones That Must Be Rewarded

In order to keep your employees happy and willing to go the extra mile, you need to celebrate some of the important events in their life. This will let them know that you care, and they may end up being more productive because of it. Here are the six different employee milestones that must be rewarded.

Birthdays

Since birthdays only come around once a year, it’s important that you show each of your employees your appreciation for them on their special day. Fortunately, you can easily do this in a variety of different ways. You can have everyone sign a card for them, decorate their office, give them a gift basket or take them out to their favorite restaurant for lunch. It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you make them feel like their birthday really matters to you.

Work Anniversaries

All bosses want to retain their employees for as long as possible. Did you know that employees are more likely to stay with your company if they know that you are grateful for the fact that they are there? You can show them this by celebrating their work anniversaries. While there are a variety of different things you can do, you may find that they will take a lot of pride in getting some sort of award. Creating your own award is actually fairly easy, and you can have it customized with the name of your employee, the company’s name and how long they’ve worked for you.

Marriages

It’s imperative that you know about some of the big milestones that are occurring in your employees’ lives. One of these milestones may be their wedding. Even if you aren’t invited to the wedding, you should still show interest in their upcoming nuptials and get them a gift. If you aren’t sure what to get them, most couples would appreciate a bottle of wine, a gift certificate for their favorite restaurant or something for their new home.

Promotions

There’s a good chance that many of your employees work hard, and you should celebrate the milestone of their getting promoted. This will show them that their hard work has paid off and that you want to recognize them for it. You can reward this milestone by hosting a luncheon for them. Have everyone briefly say a few words about the employee and some of the positive attributes they’ve made to the company. Not only will it make the employee feel good, but it will also show other employees that if they work hard that others will take notice.

New Babies

There really isn’t a greater milestone than expanding your family. Because of this, you should celebrate the milestone of one of your employees having a baby or adopting a child. Many new parents appreciate things like gift cards, a family photography session and items from their baby registry. You can also go the extra mile by giving them a few extra days off so that they can enjoy their new loved ones and not have to worry about going to work.

Earning A Degree Or Certificate

When an employee pursues higher education, it can greatly benefit your company. They will gain knowledge that may be particularly beneficial when helping them complete their work-related tasks. One of the best ways to celebrate this milestone with them is by giving them a raise or promoting them to a position where they can take on more authority.

Retirement

As sad as you may be to see some of your employees go, there will be a time when some of them will retire. You can celebrate this milestone by giving them a bonus or by purchasing them a gift certificate that they can use to take part in an activity or a class that they never had time for before. This will show them that you appreciate all they did for the company throughout all of their years of employment.

While it is imperative that you maintain a professional relationship with your employees, it doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate some important milestones with them. Even small rewards, celebrations and gifts will show them that you care about them as a person and see them as a valuable asset to your company.
